Who We Are

Autism McLean (Formerly Autism Society of McLean County) was founded in 2002. What began as a small group of parents needing to make a difference in our community has grown to more than 200 members today. With the increase in numbers, the demands for services and supports have also increased greatly. We strive to meet the demands by tapping into the strength of the community and with the help of our many volunteers. Meeting the needs of the many children and adults in the community can be a difficult task given that we are an all volunteer organization made up mainly of parents who have children with autism.

What We Do

We strive to provide resources for families with newly diagnosed children. We also provide numerous opportunities for children and families to engage in community activities, giving them an opportunity to meet other families and build social networks. A few of the things we provide are:

  • Autism Takoda Camp
  • Camp Pathfinder for Siblings
  • Bowling Camp
  • Basketball Camp
  • Family Holiday Party
  • Parents Night Out
  • Recreational Grants
  • Educational Grants
  • Adult Employment
  • Community engagement and awareness
